i want and I guess need a lot more followers to my twitter account. i see ordinary people with thousands of followers all of the time… how do i get the same for my account?

There are a few things I can do which seem to boost my followers quite a bit:
1. Follow a lot of interesting people with their own high “following” numbers who are likely to follow you back. But first be sure to add the people you are most interested in reading on a daily basis on a list so you don’t get bogged down reading all of them.
2. Try to tweet about interesting topics, like entertainment or politics, rather than about what you’re eating or at which grocery store you shop. People gravitate to funny, unique opinions about the world. And if you have something to say about a trending topic, say it. I once gained about 20 followers just from tweeting the words “breaking news” even though I wasn’t sharing actual news.
3. Find a balance in order to keep your followers. Tweet often, but not too often. I’ve heard that more than 20 a day can get really annoying to some people.
Hope that helps! I don’t think there’s a magic button to gain a ton of followers. You have to earn them as if you were trying to attract blog readers or even real-life friends.
I find that the more tweets you post the more followers you’ll get. You can also start following people and they might follow back.
