What Are Some Good Films About Nazi Germany?

What are some good films (from any country) like "Downfall," "Sophie Scholl: The Final Days," "Army of Shadows," and "Schindler's List" that explore the Nazi's methodology, the people who suffered/lived under them, and the people who resisted them (preferably about real people and events)? Documentaries also welcome, but I prefer films based on events.
Thanks.
Note: I posted this on the film board, and i received The Piano and Europa Europa as the only suggestions.

  1. Tin Drum (German) – from the Gunter Grasse novel – a strange but good filmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Tin_Dru…
Stalingrad (German) – Great film about the plight of those encircled by the Sovietshttp://www.columbia.edu/~lnp3/mydocs/cul…
Das Boot (German) – Brilliant film & tv serieshttp://www.dasboot.com/
Come & See (Soviet) – very strange, almost no plot – but you will be thinking about it for weeks after you see it. A disturbing and terrifying film.http://www.channel4.com/film/reviews/fil…http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=7LEFxnC1PY…
The Star (Russian) – recent Russian film about a commando group behind German lines, not really about Germans, but a good war filmhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zvezda_(fil…

  2. Personally when I seek information, I like to view various sources. By that I mean that we see Nazi Germany in the form of a film or movie or docudrama or documentary in the eyes of the “WEST” – or our eyes. I think it would be interesting to see what it was like to have been there first hand – as if you lived in Germany at that time. And ultimately in the surrounding countries as they were infiltrated and thus governed.
To experience this you may want to view some of the actual video released at that time. I found information on such video. They are what have become known as “propaganda.” They were the real thing that was being released to the population in that day.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Department_…
Now, you can seek out other data by viewing the other links I have below:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ger…http://www.ihffilm.com/pre-ww2-germany.h…http://hitlernews.cloudworth.com/documen…http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_d?url=…

  3. Shindler’s List is one of the most moving movies I have ever watched. Although I did not live during that awful time, this movie really gave me a clear idea on what people experienced day to day in Nazi Germany. As sad as the film was, I enjoyed learning from it so that I could appreciate my ancestry and what they went through. I would strongly recommend you see this film. It was very interesting.

  4. all quiet on the western front is a good one. it explores the gremans in the trenches. i saw it a long time ago so i dont remember details but its a bunch of friends who join up in the german army. as far as methodology goes in war its decent but if you want the holocaust then schindlers list is probably one of the best

  5. Downfall is brilliant, quite modern, sticks to the facts pretty well, only problem is its in german. but still a great film.
if your looking for something just about WW2 though try ‘Saving Private Ryan’, or ‘Enemy at the Gates’ both great films!

  6. The Piano IS awesome!! Try finding a documentary/film about the diary of Anne Frank. For a modern take on white supremacy see American History X

  7. Auschwitz: The BBC version. It’s the story from both parts and about how it was a death machine. Pretty long 6 parts all about 55 minutes a piece. Actual survivors/guards talking.

  8. “Triumph of the Will”: good ol’ Nazi propaganda.

  9. Life is Beautiful (La Vita e Bella)
Italian movie wit english subtitles even won oscars

  10. Shindlers List is good

  11. When I was in school we watched “Escape from Sobibor” – that was a good one.
